The criteria to select the persistent identifiers yet have not been clearly defined in the current Czech and foreign available sources. Nevertheless, it was not possible to use the current outputs of the National Library of the Czech Republic in this field and therefore the solution this year also dealt with the issue and a table for the defining criteria was created. Based on the study of documents dealing with the issue of identifiers, the working group produced a document defining the criteria. The next stage is to select a suitable option at each criterion for the NRGL and to compare them with the existing schemes of persistent identifiers. However, when the local records are imported, the local identifiers must be kept in order to maintain backward compatibility with local repositories. The records will have unique NRGL identifiers assigned for an organisation, the permanent sustainability of the database itself and foreign cooperation.
